Perspective

It's one thing to talk about all the happy & cool things that are happening here in Latvia with the youth, but I wouldn't be telling the truth if that is all I ever mentioned.

Agnese (whom I've mentioned earlier as one of my worship teammates) just told me that her friend's boyfriend was just killed in a car accident today. Agnese is only 16, so it's likely that her friend is about the same. She told me that she doesn't know how to help her friend. My advice to her was to just go be with her friend & cry with her. That is usually the best solution in this kind of situation.

Lydia found an article on CNN about the Baltic countries & the high usage of alcohol, which leads to the highest amount of auto-related deaths in Europe. In that same article it tells how the 3 Baltic nations of Latvia, Lithuania & Estonia are in the top 5 for the highest per capita suicide rates in the world.

I don't know if alcohol was the cause of the accident. I do know that this country is in a state of emotional crisis.
